🛟 American Red Cross Lifeguarding Certification Course

The American Red Cross Lifeguarding program prepares participants to prevent, recognize, and respond to aquatic emergencies . This nationally recognized course emphasizes hands-on training, real-world scenarios, and the most current scientific guidelines and best practices, as reviewed by the American Red Cross Scientific Advisory Council.

This is a blended learning course . Approximately 6–8 hours of online coursework must be completed before the first in-person session .

Participants who successfully complete the course will receive an American Red Cross Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED certification , valid for 2 years .

📅 Lifeguard Certification Course Class Schedule

Dates: May 30-31, June 13-14, June 27-28, July 10-11

Times: 8:00am-7:30pm both days

Location: 24752 Toledo Way, Lake Forest, CA 92630

💲 Course Cost

• Total Cost: $260 (includes breathing mask)
• Deposit: $100 due at registration
• Remaining Balance: $160 due prior to the first class session

✅ Prerequisites (Completed on Day 1)

Participants must successfully complete the following two-part prerequisite swim test :

• Swimming Sequence
• Swim 150 yards continuously
• Tread water for 2 minutes using legs only (no arms)
• Swim an additional 50 yards continuously
• Timed Event
• Swim 20 yards
• Submerge (7–10 feet) and retrieve a 10 lb brick
• Return to the surface and swim 20 yards on your back while holding the brick with both hands
• Exit the pool without using a ladder or steps

🔁 Lifeguarding Recertification Course

The American Red Cross Lifeguarding Recertification course is designed for currently certified lifeguards (or those recently expired) who need to renew their certification .

This course reviews and updates critical lifeguarding skills, including water rescues, CPR/AED, and first aid.

• Cost: $150
• Blended Learning: Online coursework required prior to class
• Certification: Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED valid for 2 years upon successful completion

Prerequisites:

• Must hold a current (or recently expired) American Red Cross Lifeguarding certification
• Must successfully complete the same prerequisite swim test as the full course

If you are unable to successfully complete the prerequisite skills, you will not be eligible to continue in the course. You may transfer to a future class; however, refunds will not be issued .
